BINGO!

Emma was so certain how to get to the bingo place. We walked up along the Clyde river, but we had to cross over and the first bridge looked like we couldnt walk thru to the bingo place cuz there were private gardens, so we walked past where we needed to be to another bridge, but it was closed, so we had to walk to the next bridge...it took us over an hour to walk there. On the way back we just crossed the first bridge and it only took 30 mins. This bridge was lit up purple!
Becca tried the slot machines for only 30p, so I tried one as well. I got all 000 and we thought I won, but it turns out I needed to get XXX. We were gutted (<---my new slang word I picked up from Becca #3, means disappointed)
Emma, Becca, Becca and me with our bingo cards
My bingo card, the green circles are the numbers that were called.
Emma and Becca, excited about Bingo!
Becca and I, and all the hardcore bingo players behind us!
Becca, Becca, Emma and I went to play bingo last night. It was so intense! The caller spoke so fast, and he just called numbers, we had packets with paper in it and we just had to use a pen to mark off the numbers he called. If u got a whole line of numbers then u won. We were playing for £ but none of us won. When he called the numbers this is what he said (imagine it with a thick scottish accent at the speed of an auctioneer) "two and three, twenty three" or "all sevens, seventy seven"! Everyone playing was pretty hardcore and they got mad if u talked during the number calling, but ppl rarely did that, cuz it required a lot of concentration!
Slang and such...:
  • Tool: 'ur such a tool': 'ur something else'
  • Gutted: disappointed
  • xxxx: 'kisses': [everyone, guys and girls, sign their emails, facebook messages/comments, internet chatting, notes, everything they sign their names then put kisses. I have also been watching The Office UK, and they did it too on the show]
  • Cheeky: smarty pants.

Assassins

During the exam period, Cairncross (my dorm), is playing a game called Assassins. Basically everyone is assigned a person they have to assassinate, and once they assassinate that person, they have to assassinate the person that that person was supposed to assassinate. The rules are you either have to throw a sock at them or play the song Never Gonna Give You Up. To kill them w/a sock u hav to be alone w/the person. With the song, u either have to be alone w/the person or the assassin can't be seen while playing it, but they have to be in the same room with the music. Or they can call the person on the phone and play the song.

I am, of course, the idiot American who was the first person killed. I was walking up the stairs by myself and a guy was following me, and I was wondering why he was going to the 4th floor, which is an all girls floor and when I opened the door he said excuse me, I turned around and he threw a sock at me. That night, Becks and I went down to a bday party for this guy Iain on the first floor and everyone was talking about the fact that someone had already been killed...I said yeah, that was me. Then they were all patting me on the back and saying, oh i'm so sorry.

There are some ppl who are taking this very seriously. Becks is so paranoid, its ridiculous. She has 3 kills. Becca just came home yesterday and got killed by Iain. So we've teamed up w/Becks to make sure she doesn't get killed. The prize is £300. Becks needs it, she doesn't have much money. She hurt her back over holildays and could barely pay for the doctor. Last night, Iain and Chris (they're good friends, and Chris is in charge, so he knows all) came upstairs to Becks and Becca's room. Iain was convinced he knew Becks killer is a girl named Kyle (she told him), who coincidentally is Becks target, Niko, roommate. So Iain wanted to help Becks plot to kill Niko and warned Becks Kyle was gonna get her tomorrow and Becks had to stay alive cuz if Kyle got her, Kyle would be in the lead. So we all go downstairs cuz Niko was in the common room. Becks had Iain's phone with the song on it and hid in the bathroom.
Becca, Chris and I hid in the next bathroom down the hall, so Becks would never be alone. Iain went and told Niko he needed to ask her something in private. She's not stupid and brought her friend, Emily (one of the americans from my group) with her. Becks played the music and Niko was killed. In the mean time, Chris is laughing hysterically in the bathroom w/me and Becca and he says wanna know something funny? Kyle lied to Iain, Becks isn't her target!
Niko, apparently, was hard core taking this game seriously. Becks is super nice and she said she was sorry. Niko just said, I may not be an assassin in the game anymore, but I can still kill. Niko walked past us and gave us all the finger. I think Becks was about to cry, but then we all burst out laughing!
Becks paranoia is getting worse. The entire time yesterday she was afraid of getting rickrolled (song played) so she wore head phones so she wouldnt be able to hear it. She never leaves her room w/out someone escorting her. I've had to walk with her to the kitchen and even to the grocery store. I seem to have lost all sense of time b/c I hav no schedule to stick to. I went for a 2 hour walk in the dark w/becca, we came back talked to Paula and Becks til Iain and Chris came up, then we helped Becks assassinate Niko came back up and ran into Emma, so we all had tea and by the time we went to bed it was 1am. Paula had already gone to sleep, and I had just crawled into bed when paula's phone (we all have our own landlines) rings. I thought for sure it was her assassin (her assassin will never get her, she's never here. but paula won't tell us who her target is, she's all into it), but i dont think paula woke up. Next thing I know, Becks comes in and wants me to switch beds w/her, just in case her assassin tries to kill her, so i did and nothing happened. She is really losing her mind.
Well, I am off to Bingo w/Emma, Becca and Rebecca tonight! Should be fun, its on the other side of the Clyde and Emma says the old ladies really get into it.

Well, that was weird

I just had my Farewell Lunch w/IFSA Butler. I, of course, am terrible at talking, even tho I've known half the people there since I got off the plane in Edinburgh. But its just a matter of someone asking me a question, then I did talk for a good 5 mins. It's just there is always one or two people who hog the conversation the whole time, and I'm not good at finding a silence where I can get a word in. Anyways...it was weird b/c this was the last time I am going to see most of them and after lunch the IFSA ladies were just like, "Ok, ur free to go, good luck on exams. Bye!". Everyone got up, we all said ok bye, and went our separate ways. It just seemed like no one really cared we are never gonna see each other again and didn't even look back, not even the IFSA ladies. It was kinda depressing.

On a happier note: Everyone seems to do revision (studying) all day, or at least they say they will do it, but everyone is really just on facebook lol. But every night this week I've been watching a movie w/Beck's and Rebecca. It's been so much fun! It's here, in halls, that I'm going to hav a terrible time saying goodbye, knowing I'll never see them again :(

The beautiful Isle of Skye

All the Glasgow Study Abroad girls

Sunset on Isle of Skye

Our hostel. Only 13 of us could fit there, so it was the 5 Glasgow girls and 8 Stirling girls. The owners were the cutest old couple, like grandparents. The womand made us Norwegian waffles and pancakes for breakfast everyday. When we left, she stood outside in her apron and waved us off.

Beautiful Highlands

This was the coldest picnic I've ever had.

We went to Loch Ness. The last time Katie and I were here, the guy kicked out Katie and Ashlee b/c they just wanted to order coke and not food. We call him the table nazi.

Loch Ness!

See that small pointed rock furthest to the right. We climbed to that rock and it was the most intense climb, people were giving up left and right, when we finally made it to the base of the rock we literally had to climb rocks to get to the top.
Our tour guide called these "sexy highland coos!"

We found Nessie!
This was the castle that was in the film Made of Honor.
Me, Karen, Kara, Emily, our tour guide Andie, and Katie
Kara and I wouldn't eat our crust of our toast in the morning and we would feed it to the seagulls. Our hostel grandma warned us that they would swoop down and take the bread out of our hands...sure enough we basically got attacked!
Down at the rocky Skye beach.
Going back down the mountain
The rock we hiked up to called The Old Man of Storr. IFSA Butler loves to push us to our limits with these intense hikes.
The view of the ocean from the Old Man of Storr
Emily and I went a separate path and Katie took our pic
Eating our lunch at the top of Storr
We all finally made it (minus Kara who gave up halfway and sat with Dierdra, one of the IFSA ladies)
ALWAYS sheep in the road.
Playing scrabble in the hostel
we were star gazing outside the bar
The band in the barOur tour leader first took shots with the Stirling girls then danced with this guy, who was either another tour leader or one of the bus drivers...they were the only ones dancing. Our tour guide was awesome! it was cold in Skye
We met these 3 Stirling girls when climbing to a castle ruins. I don't remember their names, but we spent a good amount of time with them lol
Climbing down from the castle ruins

Parrots and Pigeons!
We made friends with Austrians who shared our room in the hostel. There were 6 of them, I don't remember any of their names, but they invited us out with them and we went. We also met their Swedish friends...between them speaking German, the Swedes speaking Swedish, Sophie speaking French and the natives speaking Spanish, I was sooo confused lol luckily they all spoke some english as well.
Sophie and I asked for traditional Spanish drinks...i dunno what it was called but it cost each of us €4.50
A street vendor was selling these roses, and they were real!
Barcelona!

Cable car we took over the Mediterranean sea and coast of Barcelona

I thought I saw a squirrel, so I jumped from a bench to the top of a concrete wall...needless to say I missed...and it was a plastic bag lol
Barcelona

Our first look at the Mediterranean Sea!
Arc de Triomf
This was our first night...we had to sleep in the Marseille, France airport. I was scared to death and slept for maybe a half hour, it was horrible. The Mediterranean Sea in France
The train cars were like in Harry Potter, our own personal cabin with closing doors! It took us 9 hours to get from Marseille, France to Barcelona, Spain

We had a short stop in Avignon, France, where we walked around and saw some sights and got some ice cream. The only bad part of the trip was Sophie only likes to eat snacks all day, so she was always pulling an orange or cookies out of her pocket, then didn't want to get lunch or dinner, and I was always really hungry.
This was a bridge in Avignon, France, I forget why it was so special, but it was never completed, or it was washed away or something.
Beautiful Avignon
