Today was rather dull. It rained a dreadful amount. I asked all the IFSA ppl if they wanted to go to the largest movie theatre in the country today, and no one wanted to go outside. So I started out to go to the art gallery that is only a block away. It was rainy and windy and the wind kept changing and I was battling with my umbrella and it kept going inside out. So I turned around and went back to my flat. A little later it stopped raining, so I tried again. This time I made it to the Art Gallery! It was huge, I was there for 2 hours and I don't think I got to see everything! Here are a few pics of the paintings I saw:
After the museum, I went to Iceland (grocery store) and finally bought some food to cook and put in the fridge, since i now know what I can use in the kitchen! I made some delightful noodles w/butter and cheese on top tonight! I definately bought too much to carry the mile and a half home and now my shoulders are soooo sore from the bags.
I love that people are so amazingly friendly here! My roommate, Paula, is very nice, I haven't talked to her too much, cuz she left to go to her "boyfriend's flat" (thats what Emma told me, at least) and said she might be back late. Her best friend across the hall, Emma (also extremely nice), said sometimes Paula doesn't even come back, which works fine for me! I really like Emma, and I usually talk to her when we're in the kitchen. She gave me the second Twilight book on audio CD to listen to. I don't know which room she lives in, tho, to return it. I'll ask Paula when she gets back.
I also met April today in the hall. We passed each other a few times and said hi, and finally she stopped and said, are u international? i think i saw u at orientation. I said yes and chatted, then ended w/saying we should get together sometime! Then, walking down the stairs, I ran into the guy I danced w/at the Ceilidh! I can't remember his name, tho. But we chatted for a little. Finally, Emma and I were in the kitchen and we met another new girl. She had a thick accent, and neither of us could understand what she said her name was. I don't even know what kinda accent it was if Emma couldn't understand it (Emma is from Bristol, England?)
Is it terribly pathetic that I feel like I am living in a Harry Potter movie? I love Emma and Paula's accents and listening to them talk is quite amusing! Do these pictures not scream Harry Potter?! Everyone here is always comparing it to Harry Potter, even Emma and Paula and the australians and the English and Scottish, etc.

I LOVE HARRY POTTER! and jenny i miss u mucho girl :) but these pics make me feel right at home... love u allllll the way from little ol new market ♥
ReplyDeletenooooo problem:) i will try to read often!
ReplyDeleteUUUGHH I'M INSANELY JEALOUS. The Uni really does look like Hogwarts or something. It sounds like you're having a lot of fun which makes me glad. When are you going to find out if you've gotten into your classes?
ReplyDeleteMy mom knows a guy that lives about 10 miles from Glasgow so let me know if you want any tips about stuff to do and I'll have her ask him.
HannaH: I didn't know if u check ur blog, so I'll just respond on here.
ReplyDeleteHehe u said Uni!
I got into all the classes I wanted. Today was the first day of classes and it was very confusing, but I guess less confusing than I thought it would be! lol.
I will def. let u know if I need any tips! How does ur mom know someone from Glasgow?
Are you gonna be going to France again this summer?
I want to stay here after school during the summer, but I don't have a visa and w/a passport I can only stay in the country for 6 months...do u think if I travelled to other countries, in each new country my 6 month limit would restart???
My mom met a bunch of people through an internet Redskins fan community and he's one of them, she's crazy.
ReplyDeleteSadly I totally don't have the money to go ANYWHERE this summer, I have to save up for VCU and the economy blah blah blah...
I don't know if the limit would restart. I think that Scotland is in the European Union so they might all share the same visa policy. You could always see if it might work though.
